CoTech ethical hosting
Natasha: Inbound email about heat recycling servers from independent hostels. Who should they talk to?
Liam: Put them in touch with Chris
Natasha is going to send them an email.
CoTech gathering in March 2027 and Autumn 2027
Natasha gave an update on March gathering being organised with Sean Fensom.
Natasha and Tim also putting together a proposal for about £7k funding for bigger Cotech gathering in Autumn
Workers.coop federation collaboration
Nancy was going to attend circle calls, but she's leaving. How could we make the relationship better, what should he handover?
- Board member could attend CoTech circle meeting?
- Federation is making finances around CoTech clearer
- Autumn assembly could have CoTech specific events
- When we apply for funding could it be to the workers.coop federation eg. disrupt funding
- Could we use the zoom account?
- Organise events through the federation eg. use the workers.coop website and CiviCRM
Natasha: Data Content Reach left CoTech due to not seeing value in giving money to the workers.coop federation.
Natasha: Discussed time change for CoTech Calls to accommodate a representative from workers.coop, however Nancy is leaving for another role so need to discuss change of time again?
Nancy: Potential for board members to participate as replacement and to represent CoTech.
How does CoTech fit in to workers.coop events, when CoTech hold their own
Made clear that liaison to CoTech is required for role.
Ben: CoTech lost funding stream following merge to workers.coop. Frustrations as financial restraints have come in for CoTech and more voluntary time required and finding alternative funding streams.
Nancy: Current funding going towards workers.coop infrastructure due to restraints.
Natasha: CoTech pretty autonomous, however if more structurally integrated into workers.coop it would help other organisations to better understand CoTech and what it is as a sector within workers.coop. Could apply as a worker coop to access funding so money can come into workers.coop and put aside for CoTech
Natasha: access to simple tools like federation zoom account, branding, etc in order to feel more part of workers.coop
Natasha: Can we be assured that CoTech finances would be kept separate if payments made to workers.coop
Nancy: Has introduced tags for CoTech in reporting of funds and spend. Further accountability available.
Nancy: Mira from TSA has joined workers.coop board so better insights available
Natasha: It would be better for CoTech to start working as part of workers.coop rather than autonomously, under the workers.coop brand.
Nancy: There is potential that further work may be required to enable that.
